A December Wedding

snowy-winter-wedding-088

A wedding is a defining moment in one’s life, and the accession should be memorable and full of beauty. Many couples make the mistake of imitating weddings they have seen in the soapies. What ends up happening is that they have an imitation that looks like a prom, rather than an occasion that should inspire for years to come.

Instead of having a plastic wedding, consider having a December wedding. A wedding set in the ageless beauty of nature’s white carpet. Winter weddings have an element of timelessness to them – as if the snowcapped mountains stand as a testament to love. Winter weddings are truly moments frozen in time – something impossible to forget.

Availability

Most couples prefer to have their weddings in warmer weather. This means that many in-demand venues have a waiting list of up to two years – causing you to worry for longer than you should.

However, during winter there are fewer couples trying to secure the in-demand venue you have your sights on. Allowing you the freedom to plan your wedding around a date you choose. Meaning – less venue hunting, reduced stress, and more time to consider the important things.

Intimacy

December is the perfect time to have a lavish indoor wedding with a select number of your closest family and friends. Securing a picturesque estate, mansion, or lodge with a natural backdrop will clinch the timeless beauty of winter for your big day.

But, there is an added benefit of having an indoor wedding… Your guests will feel cozy and warm indoors, sharing laughs and memories, leading to more intimacy and strengthened relationships amongst your nearest and dearest. A December wedding could transform a celebration into a rare classical moment.

Be Weather Conscious

The weather and the cold will be an issue, and is a concern when planning a December wedding. To turn your day into a winter wonderland, you must plan with the weather in mind. Here are two tips that could help calm some doubts…

Firstly; consider purchasing wedding insurance, so that you have the safety net of cancelling or postponing if a blizzard decides to gatecrash your wedding. Secondly, choose a venue that can host both the wedding ceremony and reception (or have two separate venues close to each other), this saves your guests from braving the cold and unnecessary travelling.

Lets Talk Photos

In winter, daylight is precious and night comes quickly. So you would want to land a photographer that is seasoned. A photographer that knows how to take shots in wintry conditions (for example: shooting while snowing, and minimising glare), and who knows how to manage time effectively – no one wants to freeze for any longer than they should. A good suggestion would be to capture your pictures before the ceremony.

Conclusion
Remember, December is out of wedding season – offering you better prices and more options for venues, caterers, and photographers. The truth is that summer weddings are more popular, but winter weddings are unique. Giving you the choice of truly making your wedding an intimate affair that would be cherished as the beginning of your happily ever after…

When it comes to creating the perfect look for you on your wedding day, accessories are important. Jewelry

You cannot overlook jewelry for your wedding. Earrings can make a wonderful accent to your ensemble and a necklace is a nice accent, especially if you have a sleeveless wedding gown. When choosing earrings, bracelets, or necklaces, consider the accents of your dress, and choose wedding jewelry that will help to highlight and bring out the intricacies of your dress.

Headpieces and Veils

Next to your dress, your headpiece and veil will be one of the most important parts of your wedding ensemble. Whether you want a comb, a headdress, or a tiara, you want a headpiece that will compliment the accents of your dress and go with your veil. The veil you choose is also important. It should match the trim of your wedding dress. You will also need to decide if you will wear the veil for the wedding only or through the reception. This will influence the type of veil you ultimately choose. You want to make sure that if you have a wedding tiara that it wears comfortably with your wedding veil as well.

Shoes

No wedding ensemble is complete without the shoes. Shoes are one of the most important wedding accessories. Your shoes will help bring together your look. They will also be what you wear through your ceremony and reception. It is important that your shoes are attractive, durable, and comfortable. You will stand in them for the ceremony, you will continue to stand in them for pictures, and you will dance in them for at least the picture-worthy dances. Make sure that the shoes you select will allow for all of this function while looking stylish with your dress and other bridal accessories. Consider clips that match your wedding jewelry and wedding hair pieces to place on the toe of the shoe to help tie the ensemble together.

Your ceremony.

Corsets are back and they are “Haute”, “Hot”, “Haute!”.  Many traditional dresses use them as a top, so don’t let the word scare you.  You can combine them with a flowing blouse, wear them as is and then combine them with a long skirt for a polished, elegant and show stopping look.  If you really want to turn heads, you could go to the “dark side” and try a black Victorian bustle skirt with a traditional white or off white top.

A Little More Food For Thought

A Winter Wedding

winter-wedding-outdoor-07

While we think of spring and summer as the “wedding season” many couples prefer to have a winter wedding instead. There can be many reasons for this, but can include incorporating a key date into the wedding plans, such as having the wedding on or near the anniversary of the engagement. Many venues offer discounts to off-season weddings, so couples can save money by having  a winter wedding. Some people simply enjoy the look and feel of winter. While it is cold outside, the snow – if it snows where you are – is beautiful. People often associate the winter with warm things and warm emotions – snuggling by the fire, hot cocoa and cider, and warm, soft clothing. Whatever your reason for wanting your winter wedding, here are some ideas to make your winter wedding the perfect day.

Winter Wedding Themes

One of the first things brides consider when planning a wedding is the theme. The winter lends itself to some beautiful themes. Here are a few favorites that can help get your imagination going. Remember, when you are planning your theme, to include winter wedding invitations that match your theme. This will help set the mood for guests and give them an idea of what they should wear to a winter wedding.

Winter Wonderland Wedding

Your wedding dress will be white. Why not let everything else be white as well? Have your bridal bouquet and flower arrangements be white roses and other white, wintery flowers. For the reception, have white tablecloths with silver snowflake glitter. Choose glass crystal that is reminiscent of snowflakes. Make sure complimentary linens are white or pale blue. You can also use snowflakes as decorative accents to hang around the reception and dance floor. For your wedding cake, a traditional white cake is perfect. Consider decorating it with snowflakes and winter flowers. Do not forget to serve up warm cider with the cake.

What will you wear?

The traditional white wedding dress is perfect for this type of wedding. You can consider a dress that incorporates fur, though convertible fur is best – that is something you can remove once you are indoors. Dresses that incorporate or suggest snowflake designs are perfect for a winter wonderland wedding.

What will your bridal party wear?

For a winter wonderland wedding, your bridal party should have dresses designed with winter and comfort in mind. Remember that while the weather outside is frightful, the temperature inside will be warm, so do not put them in anything too warm, or choose convertible dresses that include warm coverings for the arms while outside for pictures that can be abandoned once they are inside for the reception. Since colors are traditional for bridesmaids dresses, stick with cool colors that suggest winter. Pale blue is the best.

Christmas Themed Wedding

Christmas is one of the biggest holidays of the year, and you can incorporate its themes into your wedding. Christmas is all about bold colors – green, red, silver, and gold – and these can make spectacular accents for your special day. Christmas weddings also allow you to add a traditional and even rustic flavor to your wedding. Consider plain glass ornaments or glittered ornaments for table and hanging decorations. Candy canes make great napkin decorations. Traditional Christmas plants like poinsettias, holly, and of course, pine wreathes make wonderful decorations as well. Do not forget to have mistletoe hanging over the wedding altar for the kiss. You can also have mistletoe hanging over the dance floor as well. Your cake can be a traditional white cake or you can accent it with Christmas colors. Offer your guests hot chocolate, warm cider, and eggnog for drinks.

The New Years Wedding

Why not ring in the New Year with your special day. The classic, chic charm of a New Year’s party lends itself perfectly to a wedding. Your colors will focus on black, white, and silver, so matching colors will be simple. You will also have many very nice, classy decorations to choose from, allowing you to decorate your wedding and reception at a reasonable price. You will still have your traditional white wedding cake and many of your table decorations will be white – such as tablecloths and napkins – though your accent will be black and silver. The traditional favors for New Years, such as poppers and sparklers, area a great idea for wedding favors and you can use white poinsettias and other white winter flowers for decorations, with silver and black accents. Do not forget to serve up the champagne for the wedding.
